Your online progress record

Why it is important to track and plan your learning.

When learning to drive, it is very important to keep track of the learning process and to plan future lesson subjects with a view to ensuring that the driver is adequately trained in all necessary disciplines. This ensures that there are no weaknesses slipping by unnoticed and no knowledge gaps waiting to catch you out on test! All lesson content and attainment levels are recorded on an online progress record (a Google Sheets file) that you will have access to from any smartphone, tablet or computer via a supplied link

Your online progress record includes:

  • Completed and upcoming lesson dates and times.
  • Receipts for payments.
  • A graded scoring system to allow you to track your progress.
  • Notes for guidance, subjects for private practice and future lesson objectives.
  • A test readiness tracker that indicates your progress towards being ready to take your driving test.

The graded scoring system based on DVSA's "5 levels of progress"

  • 0 = A task or skill that has not yet been introduced.
  • 1 = A task or skill that has been introduced informally. (DVSA: Introduced)
  • 2 = A task or skill that has been formally briefed. (DVSA: Helped)
  • 3 = A task or skill that has been formally briefed and where dual control intervention is required to support the student. (DVSA: Helped)
  • 4 = A task or skill that has been formally briefed and where verbal support is required to support the student. (DVSA: Prompted)
  • 5 = A task or skill that has been fully understood and executed autonomously and consistently by the student without support. (DVSA: Independent & Reflection)

The test readiness tracker

The Test readiness tracker indicates the student's progress towards being ready to take their test. It is a broad summary of the core disciplines and will draw attention to any areas that require resolution. Note, a score of 80% does not mean a student has an 80% chance of passing their test! It means they have 20% more to learn or implement before they are ready for test.
